New Delhi: During Operation Sindoor, the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully bypassed Pakistan’s Chinese-supplied air defense systems and destroyed key military bases in the neighboring country. On Wednesday, the Indian government shared detailed information about the operation. It confirmed that Pakistan’s attempts to strike Indian cities and military sites using Chinese and Turkish-made weapon systems were effectively neutralized. These included PL-15 air-to-air missiles and Bayraktar-style drones. Significantly, all these threats were countered using Made-in-India defense technologies.
The government stated that Operation Sindoor not only highlighted the accuracy of India’s military operations but also emphasized the nation’s growing technological self-reliance. It marked a significant milestone in India’s defense strategy. The statement noted that the operation demonstrated a well-balanced military response suited to the evolving nature of asymmetric warfare. India’s response was deliberate, precise, and highly strategic.
How India Overcame Advanced Air Defense Systems
Indian fighter jets and loitering munitions, using indigenous platforms, struck major Pakistani military installations, including Noor Khan and Rahim Yar Khan airbases, by maneuvering around Chinese-supplied defense systems. According to government sources, these high-precision strikes were completed in just 23 minutes.
All strikes were conducted without crossing the Line of Control (LoC) or the International Border. No damage was reported to any Indian assets. Meanwhile, India’s multi-layered air defense system, which combines traditional and modern indigenous technologies, successfully intercepted and countered all Pakistani attacks.
Key Indian Defense Systems Used in the Operation:
- The Akash missile system performed exceptionally well in neutralizing various aerial threats.
- The Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) system destroyed Turkish-origin drones.
- Indigenous Arudhra and Ashwini radars were used for tracking and interception.
- For the first time, the Netra AEW&C system was deployed in combat to provide 360-degree aerial surveillance.
Debris Confirms Use of Foreign Weapons
The government confirmed the recovery of debris from several advanced foreign weapons used by Pakistan, which included:
- PL-15 air-to-air missiles of Chinese origin
- A Turkish-made UAV referred to as “Yiha”
- Long-range rockets and quadcopters
These weapons were used in cross-border strikes by Pakistan, targeting Indian military positions between May 7 and May 10. Despite Pakistan’s efforts to gain an edge with advanced foreign-supplied weapons, India’s indigenous air defense and electronic warfare capabilities proved to be more advanced and effective.
